    GNKCW girls excel in M.Com-3rd Semester Results

    Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent result in M.Com- 3rd Semester Examination held in December, 2019.
    Rashi Garg stood first in college by securing 81.52% while Mansi Sethi who scored an aggregate of 81.38% stood second in college. Prabhjot Kaur stood third in the college by obtaining 81.33%.
    The General Secretary of the college governing body Er. Gurvinder Singh Sarna and Principal Mrs. Maninder Kaur congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements.

    GNKCW faculty member selected for Two Online National Courses

    Daisy Wadhwa, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Applications of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana was selected to become the part of the course team of two online courses being conducted by IIT, Bombay. The first course “Designing Learner Centric MOOCs” is an NPTEL course available on the Swayam portal. She topped in this course in the previous semester by scoring 94%. The second course “Digital Transformation in Teaching Learning Process” is an online course for faculty members selected under Digital Pedagogy initiative of National Project Implementation Unit.
    The General Secretary of the college governing body, Er. Gurvinder Singh and the college Principal, Maninder Kaur congratulated her on this achievement.

    10th Annual "Dhee Punjab Di” Contest was organized by Kirpal Sagar College of Education, Dariyapur, SBS Nagar on March 9- 10, 2020. Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town brought laurels to the college by winning various titles. Prabhpreet Kaur won the title "Tor Punjaban Di", Jashandeep Kaur bagged the title " Dhoan Surahi Vargi", Arshpreet Kaur was given the title of "Sohna Mukhra" while Harmanpreet Kaur and Muskan shared the title of "Suchaji Mutiyaar".

    Women's Cell of GNKCW Celebrated International Women’s day

    Women’s Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town celebrated International Women’s Day in the college campus today. Principal Maninder Kaur welcomed and congratulated the students on International Women’s Day and said that collectively each one of us can help create a gender equal world.
    The chief guest of the event was Mrs. Abhineet Kaur Sarna. While addressing the audience, she said, "We, as women need to feel empowered while shouldering our responsibilities and supporting each other". She further added that real empowerment will come only when a woman supports and trusts the other woman.
    To mark the occasion, a cultural event was organized to showcase the talent of the students. It included dance performances, poem recitations and discussions on women empowerment were conducted. Small acts were presented reflecting the various roles played by women in the society.

    Simranjit Kaur stood first in college by securing 81.57% while Anjali Sharma and Jaswinder Kaur who scored an aggregate of 80.43% each stood second in college. Jeenia Setia stood third in the college by obtaining 80.29%.

    Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent result in PGDMC- 1st Semester Examination held in December, 2019.
    Cheshta Vohra stood 2nd in P.U, Chandigarh by securing 78.22% while Aakrita Budhiraja secured 2nd position in the college by scoring 71.77%.

    Parent Teacher Association meeting at GNKCW

    A meeting was organized by the Parent –Teacher Association of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, today. Its main objective was to provide an opportunity to the parents to learn about the academic, behavioral and social well –being of their ward and to clarify any related questions or concerns about their performance. About 20 parents attended the meeting and provided many valuable suggestions on issues such as Discipline and Quality time to be spent with their children.
    While addressing the meeting, Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Principal of the college, said, “As per today’s scenario, we are facing a very crucial period as far as the students are concerned. To channelize the energies of the students towards a positive direction, both the parents and teachers need to go hand in hand with each other.” She thanked and appreciated the endeavors taken by the parents.

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized 7th Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Inter-college Competitions today.
    This event was organised to mark the memory of Late Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna, General Secretary of Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan), Gujarkhan Campus and former Professor of Economics, GGN Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.
    The competitions were held in Ten different areas – Poetical Recitation, Declamation, Creative Writing, Music, Commerce, IT, Home Science, Fine Arts, Mass Communication and Psychology. As many as 21 colleges of and around Ludhiana participated in the competitions.
    Padma Shree Dr. Surjit Patar, Eminent Punjabi Poet, Chairman, Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh was the chief guest for the occasion. While addressing the students, he talked about the diversity of views expressed by the various participants in the poetry competition. He also congratulated the host college for organising such competitions and motivating the young talent.
    The results for the various competitions are as follows:
    Poetical Recitation Competition: Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana won the first prize followed by Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College and Ramgarhia Girls college, Ludhiana at the second position while third position was bagged by Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College.
    Essay Writing Competition: Arya College, Ludhiana stood first. Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana and Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana won the second prize and Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana secured the third position.
    Story Writing Competition: Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana stood first and Bhai Nagahia Singh Memorial Girls College won the second Prize. AS College, Khanna and Shri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management won the third prize.
    Poem Writing Competition: MTS College, Ludhiana stood first. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana and Malwa Central College, Ludhiana won the second prize. Shri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management secured the third position.
    Logo Designing Competition: GGN Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana won the first prize followed by Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana at the second place. Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Digital Poster Making Competition: Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana won the first prize followed by GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana at the second place. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Website Development competition: Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana stood first. Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won the second prize. Arya College Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Budding Chef Competition: MTS College for Women, Ludhiana stood first. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana won the second prize and GNIMT, Model Town, Ludhiana stood third.
    Mehndi Competition: Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana bagged the first prize. It was followed by Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College at the second place and Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Nail Art Competition: Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana stood first while MTS College, Ludhiana and Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won the second and third prizes respectively.
    File Decoration Competition: Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana stood first while Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana and Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College won the second and third prizes respectively.
    TV Interviewing: Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana stood first, followed by KCW, Civil Lines and Arya College, Ludhiana at the second position. Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana secured the third position.
    AD Mad Show: GNIMT, Model town, Ludhiana bagged the first prize. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana and KCW, Civil Lines, Ludhiana at the second place and Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Still Life Competition: Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana won the first as well as Second Prize while Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Rangoli Competition: Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana stood first in Rangoli competition. Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana secured second position. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana won the third prize.
    Collage Making Competition: Government College for Girls stood first Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana and Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana won the second and third prizes respectively.
    Psychology Collage Making competition: KMV, Jalandhar got first prize while Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana won second prize followed by Partap College of Education, Ludhiana at the third position.
    Advertisement Copy-Writing competition: Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana got the first as well as second prize while Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won third prize.
    Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Principal of the host college said, “The inter-college competitions are more special this year as the college is celebrating its Golden Jubilee and these competitions were organized keeping in view the present need for cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue.”
    Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary of the College Governing Body gave the vote of thanks and congratulated all the participants and prize winners. He remarked, “Through such interactions and competitions, we wanted to provide a platform to students of various institutions to express themselves and to showcase their talents”.

    Industrial Visit by BBA Students of GNKCW

    Industrial visit to Vardhman nisshinbo by BBA

    An industrial visit to Vardhman Nisshinbo Group Company Limited, Ludhiana was organised for the students of Department of Business Management and Commerce, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana. 53 students along with their teachers visited the industry. The students came to know about various stages of production process of shirts. They also visited different departments of the company such as Fabric Store, Trim Store and Cutting, Storage, warehouse, assembly sections etc.
    The students got an exposure on the practical aspect of the numerous techniques of producing threads, baking process of SSP Fabric, fabric selection and various quality control techniques of TQM. The students also got information about incentive schemes and Stress Management techniques.
    Principal Mrs. Maninder Kaur encouraged the department for such visits which will enhance the knowledge of the students in the future.

    Extension Lecture on Philosophy of Guru Nank Dev ji at GNKCW

    House of Readers (Book Club) of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized an extension lecture on the Philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev ji and its impact on Youth in the college premises today. Singh Sahib Prof. Manjit Singh Ji, ex-jathedar, Shri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar and Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib was the chief guest on the occasion.
    Er. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary of the college, welcomed the guests on this special occasion of golden jubilee celebrations of the college. The highlight of today's event was, discussion on the life of Guru Nanak Dev ji and the relevance of his philosophies in today's life. He also discussed how after reading Guru ji's Baani, one can get into the stage of self-introspection and progressive vision. He urged the students to take up Guru Nanak Dev ji's life as a role model and lead a perfect life. It was followed by an interactive session between the students and the guest.
    Principal of the college, Mrs. Maninder Kaur encouraged the students to read more books and to create an awareness regarding the evils prevalent in the society.

    Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent result in BBA-1st Semester, B.Com-1st Semester and B.Com-5th Semester Examinations held in December, 2019.
    BBA-1st Semester: Dimple stood 6th in Panjab University, Chandigarh by securing 79.09% while Neelam stood 2nd in college by scoring 77.45%. Kashish stood 3rd in college by scoring 68.55% marks.
    B.Com-1st Semester: Shagun Kakkar stood 1st in college by securing 82.34% while Dilpreet Kaur stood 2nd in college by scoring 80.16%. Sejalpreet Kaur stood 3rd in college by scoring 79.38% marks.
    B.Com-5th Semester: Amanpreet Kaur secured 1st position in college with 84.17% while Amanpreet Kaur stood 2nd in college by scoring 82.17%. Nancy Singla got 3rd position in college by scoring 81.83% marks.

    The Department of Psychology of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized an event showcasing Psychological Therapies and situation based models titled as “Psyche-verse” today.
    On this occasion students made models on various psychological concepts and showcased various psychotherapies such as REBT, Psychoanalysis, aversion therapy, CBT and Client Centered Therapy
    Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary of the College Governing Body, congratulated the department for organizing such an interesting activity. He also mentioned the importance of awareness on various therapeutic techniques and encouraged the students to put up similar events in the future also.

    English Literary Society and the Post Graduate Department of English of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized a tête-à-tête with the celebrated author and the reigning queen of Amazon, Nomita Khanna, today.
    Nomita Khanna, is the author of "Rose's Bent Stem", a chilling psychological thriller. The book ranks #1 in Amazon best sellers in Horror category and #2 in Amazon best sellers under Crime. Her debut novel, "Lucky Costasaurus and the Golden-Winged Vultures", a book for young readers has also ranked #1 in Amazon best sellers in the Myths, Legends, Sagas category in the Free Kindle Store.
    During the book reading session, she talked to the students about her creative journey and apprised them of some valuable tips in order to make this complex creative process a simple and enjoyable one. The session was followed by an animated interaction with the students.
    On the occasion, Principal Mrs. Maninder Kaur underlined the relevance of such workshops which aim towards creating a better learning environment for the attendees.

    Essay writing competition on "Ghadar Movement" at GNKCW

    To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 100th anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre an essay writing competition was organized by the legal literacy Club, NSS Unit, Youth Club in collaboration with the Department of History at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town on January 31st, 2020.
    The objective of the competition was to encourage students to learn how freedom fighters sacrifice their lives in the struggle for independence.
    Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Principal of the college said that these competitions were organized in order to pay a tribute to the heroes of our freedom struggle.

    The Department of Business Management & Commerce of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized an Extension Lecture on “How to create wealth in Stock Market” today.
    Mr. Sunil Makkar (Investment Consultant & Advisor) was the resource speaker. He addressed the students about various stock market strategies such as future & Option Trading, benefits of long term investments and bullish & bearish trends through technical charts etc.
    He discussed with the students how the stable government, crude oil, inflation, rise and fall of dollar rate influence the prices of the stock market. The various investment avenues such as banks, shares, Blue chip Companies like pharmaceutical companies, fast moving consumer goods, LIC, Mutual Funds etc. have also been discussed. The students also got practical knowledge regarding how to invest in stock market through live trading.
    Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Principal of the College, on this occasion, underlined the relevance of such lectures in the present time of career orientation.

    Industrial Visit by M.Com Students of GNKCW

    An industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant, Ludhiana was organised for the students of M.Com-I, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana. 31 students visited the industry and they came to know about various stages of production process, quality check and packaging department.
    The students got an exposure on the practical aspect of the different techniques of production process. The students also interacted with the staff of the Plant and gained knowledge about the various aspects of production of milk products.
    Principal Mrs. Maninder Kaur encouraged the department for such visits which will enhance the knowledge of the students in the future.

    The Anti-Drug cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized an extension lecture on the occasion of "Buddy Day" today. Dr. Shiv Kumar Dogra, Coordinator, B.A. LLB, Panjab University Regional Center (PURC), Ludhiana and Dr. Rajni Bagga, Assistant Professor of Law, Panjab University Regional Center (PURC), Ludhiana delivered an informative talk on the topic "Drug abuse, awareness and prevention".
    Principal, Maninder Kaur, thanked the resource persons. She also highlighted that such endeavors are necessary to make the youth of today more conscious about the ill effects of taking drugs. It can further help in creating a drug-free society.

    GNKCW won various Prizes in Dera Baba Nanak Online Youth Festival

    The students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college by their excellent performance in the Dera Baba Nanak Online Youth Festival.
    Gurleen Kaur of BA-III won 2nd Prize in Sketch(Solo) and was awarded cash prize of Rs. 31000/- while Parwinder Kaur of B.A-II secured the 3rd Prize in Calligraphy receiving cash prize of Rs. 21000/-. The winners were honoured at award ceremony organised by Punjab Government at Dera Baba Nanak Samagam on November 11, 2019.

The chief Guest on the occasion was Padma Bhushan Dr. S.S. Johl (Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda). The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion even more special.
    The theme of the workshop was "Jahar Peer Jagat Guru Baba"("ਜਾਹਰ ਪੀਰ ਜਗਤੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਾਬਾ"). It provided a rare platform to the aspiring artists of the city to come face to face with Artist, Sculptor, Singer and writer Sidharth, his ideology and his techniques. The aim of the workshop was to provide an insight into the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji.
    Dr. S. S. Johl talked on the economic prospective introduced by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He elaborated that this model is based on inclusive, sustainable and co-operative development. It can be applied on a national, personal and social level to enhance growth. The message behind Guru Nanak Dev Ji's actions must be understood and followed by all.
    Artist Sidharth elaborated on the importance of the "Mool Mantar" and its applicability to the entire universe. He also said that fear and egocentrism are the two negative and most popular traits seen amongst today's generation. He mesmerized the audience with the strokes of his brush in creating a masterpiece of the First Guru.
    On this occasion, a Fine Arts Exhibition was also held in the college. This exhibition was a depiction of the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
    Principal of the College, Mrs. Maninder Kaur, extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries present and emphasized upon the significance of such workshops and interactions.
    Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary, College Governing Body delivered a vote of thanks to both the eminent personalities and expressed his long awaited desire to have them on the same platform.

    GNKCW won various Prizes in P.U Inter Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival

    The students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college by their excellent performance in the Panjab University, Chandigarh- Inter Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival held at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, Ludhiana from 01st November to 04th November, 2019.
    Jaspreet Kaur of BA-III won 1st Prize in Ghazal while Parwinder Kaur of B.A-II secured the 3rd Prize in On the Spot Painting. The Group Song Team bagged 2nd prize and Jaspreet Kaur of won 1st prize (Individual) in the same event. Jaskirat Kaur of B.Com-II got 2nd Prize (Individual) in Mime.
    Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary, College Governing body, congratulated all the winners and appreciated their hard work. The Principal of the College, Maninder Kaur, also encouraged all the prize winners and motivated them to perform their best in the next round of the competition.

    A workshop on disaster management and Life Saving skills was organized for students and faculty of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana by Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Welfare Society, Mohali. A lecture cum demonstration session on safety and security of lives and also helping needy during emergency was conducted by Rajinder Saini, District Training Officer, Indian Red Cross Society and K. K. Saini, Chairman, Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Welfare Society, Mohali. During the training session, resource persons highlighted that planning, coordination and high state of preparedness are the necessary steps to handle crisis successfully.
    A demonstration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating, was also provided.
    Principal of the college, Maninder Kaur thanked the resource persons. She said that these kinds of training activities help students become more confident in handling emergency situations.

    The Training and Placement Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized a placement drive in collaboration with MATRID Technologies, Mohali. The company is currently hiring Software Developers for their office at Mohali and training will also be provided to the selected candidates.
    The placement procedure was divided in two rounds – Written Test and Technical Interview.
    The Placement Drive was for the final year students of BCA and PGDCA. Nine students were shortlisted for placement and training in the programme.

    The College baseball team won 13 Gold Medals in the Open State Baseball Tournament held at Govt. School, VPO Gill, Ludhiana on October 05-06, 2019.

The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special. Former students shared their experiences and memories on the occasion. Paramjit Kaur (Vice-President, Alumni Association) highlighted the importance of time-management, discipline and moral values in the lives of students. Many old students of the college also walked down the nostalgia lane and revived their memories.     The much awaited Freshers’ Party at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana was held today for the first year students by their seniors. The function was presided over by chief guest Mrs. Lakhwinder Kaur Gill (Founder, The Healing Shelter), members of the management and other esteemed guests. She encouraged the students to focus on four important aspects of life which included Love, Health, Prosperity and Self Expression. The seniors extended a warm welcome to the new -comers with great zeal and enthusiasm at S. Sant Singh Gujarkhani Auditorium. The youngsters cheered and hooted for their peers and juniors. . The newcomers were introduced through Catwalk on the ramp. Dr. Inderpreet Kaur (Assistant Professor), Mrs. Guneeta Bindra (Founder, Kala Nikhar Academy) and Ms. Jaipreet Kaur (Fashion Designer) were the judges for the event. The high voltage music and dance performances doled out by a mixed bunch of freshers and seniors were a special attraction of the day. Over 48 girls put the stage on fire with their ramp walk. The foot-tapping music, the flash lights along with the excitement and high spirits of the youngsters made the party unbridled and exuberant. The students also exhibited their talent in form of choreographed dance performances. The title of Miss. Fresher, 2019-20 went to Anushka followed by First Runner-up- Daman and Mehak as Second Runner up. while Miss Glamorous Looks was awarded to Samantha, Ms Fashion Icon to Harshpreet, Miss Spectacular Eyes and Miss Rampwalk went to Parul and Miss Personality to Preet Kaur.     Mr. Prashant Somani, Chartered Accountant and Corporate Trainer was the resource person.
    The Speaker gave a detailed knowledge of GST, how to calculate it and how it is divided between Centre and State Governments. The calculations of Input Tax Credit and how the unutilized tax credit be carried forward or claimed, was also discussed. The lecture also focused on limitations of previous tax structure followed by importance of GST in current scenario in the promotion of exports, improving GDP of the country and controlling Black Money.

    Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized a Budding Journalist Contest today. Mr. Shamsher Chandel, Founder and Editor in Chief, The Hush Post was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ms. Mehak Jain, Correspondent, Ludhiana Times of India and Ms. Deepa Sharma Sood, Senior Correspondent, Hindustan Times were the judges on the occasion.
    The students acted as budding journalists and gave power point presentations on various topics which highlighted issues like Floods, Women Harassment and Environment Exploitation etc. The competition was followed by an interactive session between the guests and the students. The department also released a Newsletter- VISION on the occasion of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college.

This campaign was launched to mark the birth anniversary of the Hockey Legend, Major Dhyan Chand which is being celebrated in India as National Sports Day.

    The students of M.Com-I and M.Com-II of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujharkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized a Practical project on “Product Development and Sales Promotion” to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college. The exhibition cum sale was inaugurated by Er. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary, College Governing Body and Principal of the College, Mrs. Manjit Kaur. The students were divided into seven groups. They displayed various products such as Wall Hangings, Candles, Pen Stand, Key Chains, Jewellery Stands, Jewellery Boxes, Bookmarks and Decorative Mirrors etc.
    A stall of eatables such as Handmade Chocolates, Brownies, Mocktails, Sweets etc. was also arranged by the students.
    In this event, M.Com students learned various skills which included new product development, marketing skills, sales promotion and how to make these products attractive as well as convince the consumer to buy them.

    Baljeet Singh Moga along with his group members depicted the menace of drug addiction. Through this street play, an effort was made to put across the message that one should follow the ideologies of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

    Women's Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organized a Self-Defense Training Session for all its members in the campus today.
    Taekwondo Coach Mr. Surjit gave training on Self-defense to students and demonstrated various techniques to protect oneself. While addressing the students, he not only emphasized upon physical fitness but also discussed courage as an important element in self-defense.

    NSS Unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Celebrated Sadbhavana Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. The idea behind observance of "Sadbhavana Diwas" is to eschew violence and to promote goodwill among the people.
    On this occasion, all the NSS Volunteers took a pledge that they will work for the harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region or language and shall resolve all differences amongst people.

    Swachhta Pakhwada-2019 concluded at GNKCW

    NSS Wing of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organized Swachhta Pakhwada in the campus from August 01- 15, 2019. A number of activities like Rally, Extension Lecture and Visit etc. were organized during this time. A meeting of NSS Volunteers was held in which the future plans of Sustaining Cleanliness were discussed. Various clubs under NSS were formed so that the time and energy of NSS volunteers can be utilized properly during camps and other regular activities.
    Volunteers also devoted time for cleaning the campus and ensured that they would clean their campus in future as well.
    Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman appreciated the efforts taken by the various volunteers of the club. She also stressed the need of organizing such activities in the future. The need of the hour is to spread awareness among the public to keep their surrounding clean and green.

    GNKCW girls won gold medals in Open Punjab State Championship

    Meenu of B.A-III won a Bronze medal in Open Punjab State Taekwondo Championship held in Jalandhar on August11, 2019. Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman congratulated the winner for her outstanding achievement.

    TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT GNKCW

    A tree plantation drive was organized by NCC Wing, NSS Unit and Youth Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Camps, Model Town, Ludhiana today in collaboration with Dainik Bhaskar Newspaper.
    Saplings were planted in and around the college campus as a part of the drive. The volunteers pledged to make Ludhiana a clean and green city.
    Principal, Mrs. Manjit Kaur, made the students aware about the threats of global warming and the importance of planting more trees to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana wore the festive look of a lively village with trinjans of students and teachers wearing colourful traditional Punjabi attires. The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special.
    The chief guest on the occasion was Prof. Sandeep Kaur Chahal, Associate Professor, Dept. of Folk, Art and Culture, Khalsa College, Patiala. She inaugurated an exhibition of Punjabi cultural and heritage items organized by the college. It was an impressive display of traditional embroidery on sheets and cushions, pakhis and age-old utility items like charkha and radio-sets.
    The campus split with laughter and mirth when vivacious and spirited girls enjoyed the flower bedecked Peengs to the tune of Teej songs.
    Girls savored ‘Batata puri’, ‘chaat’, ‘chuski’ and other street snacks from the food-stands put up in the college campus. The spectacular show was marked by a variety of other stalls including fun games, mehandi, bangles and cosmetics by the students. The hot pick of the day were cakes and handmade accessories. Huge rush was seen on game stalls organized by the students of various departments.
    Moreover 55 stunning Punjabi mutiyaars were ready with their gait and sportive spirit for “Teeyian di rani” Competition. The esteemed judges were Dr. Jaswinder Brar (Professor, PAU), Mrs. Sharanbir Kaur Bal and Mrs. Sukhjit Kaur Maan. They announced the various title winners:

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town inaugurated the new academic session 2019-20 by seeking the blessings of the Almighty today. The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special.
    In this respect, a programme of Shabad Kirtan was organized in the college premises. The august gathering comprised of the members of the college governing body, the Principal, distinguished guests, members of the faculty, and students of the college. The staff and students of the Department of Music opened the event with an invocation to the Lord in the form of Kirtan. On this occasion, Bhai Sahib Bhai Sahib Singh Ji- Ragi Jatha Gurudwara Shaheedan, enthralled the audience with the divine recitation of Shabad Kirtan, which was followed by the recital of Path Sri Anand Sahib and Ardas. His soulful voice moved and inspired all teachers and students alike.

    The event witnessed participation of a number of students. Students took out the rally with the placards carrying the message of "Plant Trees, Save Water, Shun Plastics, Stop Air pollution" etc.

    The enthusiasm and gusto of the party peeled off its layers with smiles, tears, reminiscences and a cultural bonanza comprising of songs, dances and other eye-catching items.
    The beauty pageant was the highlight of the show. In the Arts Section, Harman was crowned as Miss Farewell, and Ashima and Baljit Kaur were adjudged as first and second runner-up, respectively.
    In the Commerce Stream, Tanisha was crowned as Miss Farewell, and Loveleen and Komal were adjudged as first and second runner-up, respectively.
    In Business Administration and Computer Science Stream, Ramanpreet Kaur was crowned as Miss Farewell, and Jasleen and Urvashi were adjudged as first and second runner-up, respectively.

    ANNUAL CONVOCATION at GNKCW

    Clad in black robes with colorful scarves on proud shoulders, a large number of pass-outs from Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana were conferred degrees during the Annual Convocation of the college, here today. As many as 436 degrees were awarded to graduates of B.A, B.Com, BCA and BBA in addition to Honours and Post-Graduate classes of M.A. (English), M.Com, PGDMC and PGDCA. The jubilant soiree consisted of large number of guests, including the college governing body and the parents of the wards. The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special.
    General Bikram Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.) Former Chief of Army Staff, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Welcoming the Chief Guest, Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman read the college report, accompanied by a power point presentation glorifying the achievements of the students and the members of the faculty in curricular and co-curricular activities.
    While delivering the convocation address, General Bikram Singh said," There are no shortcuts in life and the only way to reach the dreams of your life is by managing the most precious resource i.e time. Dreams should not let you sleep and one should have the capacity to keep learning always". He further added that hard work will always pay and one should keep up the values of integrity, loyalty and respect. The present generation should never forget its roots and the values which have been inculcated amongst them by their families and teachers. One should always keep a goal in his/her mind and should never give up achieving that.
    The Chief Guest conferred the degrees upon the students and felicitated the special awardees with 18 Roll of Honours, 18 College Colours, 21 Merit Certificates and 72 University Toppers.
    On this occasion, Dr. Darshan Singh, an eminent literary personality was presented with an Award of Honour for his achievements in Punjabi literature.
    The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary of the college governing body.

    Legal Literacy Club and NSS Unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, undertook a Pledge Ceremony in respect of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, as per the directions issued by Vice- Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in the college premises today.
    On the occasion of the Celebration of Jallianwala Bagh Centenary Year, members of the Legal Literacy Club and NSS Volunteers of the college took a Pledge and paid tribute to the victims of Jallianwala Bagh gruesome mass murder. The purpose of this event was to intimate the students about the history of the incident.

    Ms. Harpreet Kaur(Department of Fine Arts), a faculty member of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, has won the state award for the painting "Anhad Naad" and also a cash prize of Rs. 11000/- at the Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar at 6th State Exhibition of Arts on March 31, 2019.
    Her work has also been selected for International Art Exhibition "Binnale" "Bindas-2019" at Turkey from March 31 – April 30, 2019. The selection of the same work has also been made under Best 50 Artist and art works and also for online Exhibition for the same group.

    Chitrakala- Digital Poster making competition organized by GNKCW

    An inter-class Digital Poster Making competition- Chitrakala was held at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and as a part of ongoing golden jubilee celebration of the college. The event was organized by Department of Computer Science and Applications in which more than 30 students from various streams of the college participated.
    Students designed captivating, inspiring and effective posters based on the theme "Sarbat Da Bhala- Peace and Prosperity for all".
    The result of the competition is as follow: Bharti (BCA-III) secured first Position followed by Tamanpreet Kaur (BCA-III) at the second place. Narinder Kaur (BCA-III) and Aishwarya Khanna(PGDCA) stood third in the competition.

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana today felicitated its achievers at the Annual Prize Distribution Function held in the college campus.
    Sh. Ashutosh Baranwal, Principal Commissioner, GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana inaugurated the Exhibition by Department of Fine Arts which proved to be a visual treat for the guests and the audience.
    On the occasion of the celebration of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year, a Fine Arts exhibition depicting the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was organized by the department. 45 paintings were exhibited to showcase the talent of the young artists of the college.

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana today felicitated its achievers at the Annual Prize Distribution Function held in the college campus.
    Sh. Ashutosh Baranwal, Principal Commissioner, GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The function was attended by a large number of guests comprising veteran academicians, Members of the College Governing Body and parents of the students. Welcoming the Chief Guest, Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman read out the Annual Report of the college and highlighted the achievements of the students and the faculty in diverse fields. The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special Sh. Ashutosh Baranwal also inaugurated Exhibitions by the Department of Fine Arts and Department of Psychology which proved to be a visual treat for the guests and the audience.
    Lauding the achievements of the students in various fields, the Chief Guest Sh. Ashutosh Baranwal congratulated the college for the ever-rising graph of their achievements. While addressing the prize winners he recited the poem "If" by the famous poet Rudyard Kipling. He also talked to the students about issues such as GST, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and stubble burning. He motivated the prize winners to excel in their fields.
    In the event, 185 students were awarded for their hard work in the session 2018-19 in academics and co-curricular activities. In addition, general prizes were also given to students who have excelled in various fields. Simran Haryani was declared the Best Singer, Inderpreet Kaur was adjudged Best in Dramatics and Harveen Kaur won the Best Artist title.
    The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Er. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary of the college governing body.

    Workshop on Yoga for Healthy Living

    Youth Club and Red Ribbon Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana organized a workshop on the theme "Yoga for Healthy Living". Sh. Krishan Lal Gupta, Former District President, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Punjab and Sh. Pramod Sharma, District President, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Punjab were the resource persons on the occasion. During the workshop, they narrated the usefulness of different "Asanas" in our daily life and the benefits of Yoga in the overall wellbeing of a human being.
    Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
    Principal of the college, Manjit Kaur, delivered the vote of thanks and said that practicing yoga, pranayama and meditation on a daily basis will help us live a healthy and peaceful life.

    World Water Day Observed at GNKCW

    NCC Wing and Eco Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized a Slogan Writing and Poster Making event on the occasion of World Water Day today.
    Important Issues and Challenges were discussed in the second session in which the Eco Club members and NCC Cadets mentioned the problems related to the topic 'Rain Water Harvesting in India- Challenges and Remedies'. On the occasion Tilak Raj, NCC Officer gave a lecture on Rain Water Harvesting and also discussed the problems related to it in metropolitan city like Ludhiana.

    GNKCW girls excel in M.Com-1st Semester Results

    Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent result in M.Com- 1st Semester Examination held in December, 2018.
    Simran Chawla stood first in college by securing 78.57% while Prabhjot Kaur who scored an aggregate of 78.14% stood second in college. Rashi Garg stood third in the college by obtaining 78.00%.

In another Competition "BASANT-2019" organized by Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana on March 03, 2019, the college bagged 3 First Prizes, 03 Second Prizes and 02 Third Prizes in various categories.

    Annual Athletic meet was held at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town today. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sh. Deepak Pareek, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/HQRS, Ludhiana.
    The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special. The achievements of the sports department were highlighted by the principal, Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman by reading out the Annual Sports Report of the college.
    While addressing the audience, Mr. Pareek said that students should inculcate the habit of reading and develop moral values amongst themselves. He suggested that every institution should prominently display the constitutional duties in the campus. Students must develop self-confidence to face any challenge of life.
    The events of the day included track and field events like 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m race, 800m race, 4 X 200m relay, long jump, shot put, Javelin throw, discus throw. These events were open to all, the players and the non-players alike.
    Along with these, Competitions were also held in events like three-legged race, hurdle race, sack race, chatti race and skipping. Hardeep Pal of B.A.First Year won the title of the best athlete 2018-19 and Vipan Kaur of B.A First Year was adjudged as the second best athlete. A helper’s race also formed part of the meet. A spectacular show was presented by the students of the college through a march past.

    Women Cell of GNKCW Celebrated International Women’s day

    Women's Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town celebrated International Women's Day in the college campus today. Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman welcomed and congratulated the students on International Women's Day and said that now women are strong enough to face all the challenges of life.
    The chief guest of the event was Mrs. Abhineet Kaur Sarna. While addressing the audience, she said, "Women have the power to create and this is what makes them empowered". She further added that real empowerment will come only when a woman supports the other woman. To mark the occasion, a cultural event was organized to showcase the talent of the students. It included dance performances, poem recitations on women empowerment, skit entitled as "Padhungi mein, Aage badhungi mein". The show, "Safar Abhi Jaari Hai" marked the end of the event which was a personality reflection of the various roles played by women in the society in which students presented themselves as eminent women personalities of the past as well as contemporary times.

    The Department of Punjabi of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women organized a national seminar in collaboration with IQAC on "Guru Nanak Dev Ji di Vichardhara te Chintan " in the college premises today.
    The college is celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as its Golden Jubilee year which makes the occasion more special. Principal of the college, Mrs. Manjit Kaur welcomed the dignitaries, guests and audience.
    In his keynote address, Dr. Jagbir Singh (Former Professor and Head, Punjabi Department, Delhi University, Delhi) said, "The most important place in history is that of the Dharam Parvartak. He added that the gaining and dispensing knowledge is a methodology. The motive behind the Udassiyan was enlightenment of the individual and Guru Nanak's Baani does not let a person sleep but awakens. The development of the sikh religion started during the Indus Valley civilization." According to him, religion is the universal moral order and Brahm is the ultimate reality.
    Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi (Former Professor and Head, Punjabi Department, Literary Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala) in his lecture discussed how Guru Nanak Dev Ji saved the society and also expressed his views on the condition of women in the society during those times.
    Dr. S.S.Johl (Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda), emphasized that Guru Nanak Dev Ji preached humanism and to understand religion in a better way, we should read about other religions.
    The Special Chief Guest on the Occasion Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh Ji (Karajkari Jathedar, Shri Akal Takht Sahib, Shri Amritsar Sahib) stressed upon the need to bring about purity in whatever an individual do. It is the golden opportunity to make the people around the world aware of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In the technical session, resource persons from various Universities and Institutions expatiated their views on the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The prominent speakers of the session were Dr. Harbhajan Singh Bhatia ( GNDU Amritsar), Dr. Gurpal Singh( PU Chandigarh) and Dr. Sarabjot Kaur (Government College for Girls, Ludhiana).

    Industrial Visit by BBA Students of GNKCW

    An industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant, Ludhiana was organised for the students of BBA 2nd and 3rd year, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana. 64 students visited the industry and they came to know about various stages of production process, quality check and packaging department.
    The students got an exposure on the practical aspect of the different techniques of production process. The students also interacted with the staff of the Plant and gained knowledge about the various aspects of production of milk products.
    Principal Manjit Kaur encouraged the department for such visits which will enhance the knowledge of the students in the future.

    Book Reviews held at GNKCW

    House of Readers (Book Club) of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town held Book Reviews in the college premises today.
    The highlight of today's event was reviews on the various books already read by the students. Almost 25 students from all the classes presented their views on books such as 21 Lessons for 21st Century by Yuval Noah Herari and The New India: The Reality Reloaded by Gurjot Singh Kaler and many other books as well.
    Principal of the college, Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman encouraged the students to read more books and to create an awareness regarding the evils prevalent in the society.

    Inter- College Competitions held at GNKCW

    Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town organized 6th Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Inter-college Competitions today.
    This event was organised to mark the memory of Late Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna, General Secretary of Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan), Gujarkhan Campus and former Professor of Economics, GGN Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.
    The competitions were held in Nine different areas – Poetical Recitation, Declamation, Creative Writing, Music, IT, Home Science, Fine Arts, Mass Communication and Psychology. As many as 29 colleges of and around Ludhiana participated in the competitions.
    Mrs. Daljit Kaur, IRS, Deputy Commissioner, Incharge Anti Evasion-CGST was the chief guest for the occasion. While addressing the students, she said, "One need to be focused about his/her aim in life". She shared her experience with the students that she had already decided her aim when she was a school going student and her father remained the guiding light behind what she is today. She further told the students that her father had always been a very encouraging person in her life who told her that she must not compare herself with anyone.
    Mrs. Baljeet Singha was the guest of honour on the occasion.     TV Interviewing: I.K. Gujral PTU, Jalandhar stood first, followed by Shri Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana at the second position. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana and HMV Jalandhar secured the third position.
    AD Mad Show: HMV Jalandhar bagged the first prize. Government College for Girls Ludhiana at the second place and I.K. Gujral PTU, Jalandhar won the third prize.
    Mrs Manjit Kaur Ghuman, Principal of the host college said, "The inter-college competitions are more special this year as the college is celebrating its Golden Jubilee and these competitions were organized keeping in view the present need for cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue."

    Industrial Visit by M.Com Students of GNKCW

    An industrial visit to Shreyans Papers, Ahmedgarh Mandi was organised for the students of Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana. 63 students along with their teachers visited the industry. The students came to know about various stages of production process, finishing department and boiler plant. The firm guided the students regarding the pollution norms to be followed, the waste products and by-products being fully utilized.
    The students got an exposure on the practical aspect of the different techniques of production process. The students also interacted with the Vice president of the company and they studied the strength of paper through testing machines.

    On this occasion, Dr. Narinder Kaur Sandhu (former Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana) addressed the members of Women’s Cell on the topic. She shared significant information regarding the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his contribution for the upliftment of women in the society. She also discussed the role and responsibility of women in the present scenario. She emphasized that one great quality of patience should be a part of woman's personality.

    The Training and Placement Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized a placement drive in collaboration with Om Careers, Ludhiana. The company is currently hiring talent for big corporate houses.
    The placement procedure which was divided in two rounds – Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
    The Placement Drive was open to all the final year students of B.A, B.Com, BCA, BBA, M.Com and PGDCA. 30 students were shortlisted in the programme out of which 07 got selected.

    'Aagman Purab', the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, founder of Khalsa Panth was celebrated with full fervor at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town here today. The Arambh of Sahaj Path Sahib Ji was on January 25 at College Gurudwara Sahib Ji and bhog of Shri Sahaj Path Sahib Ji took place today. The event started with prayers of Shri Chaupai Sahib Ji followed by Kirtan by the students of the Department of Music.
    Bhai Sahib Bhai Harjot Singh Ji Zakhmi and his Raagi Jatha embalmed and enthralled the audience into soulful rhythms with the holy verses.
    To mark the event, competitions of Gurbani Shudh Ucharan and Gurbani Kanth, prior to the day were held in the College Campus. Prizes were given to the students to motivate them to read, understand and also apply Bani in their daily life. Deepinder Kaur won the first prize, Manmeet Kaur and Aishwarya Kaur stood second while Lavleen Kaur and Harneek Kaur bagged the third place in Gurbani Kanth Competition . Evenpreet Kaur stood first, followed by Ishmanpreet Kaur and Balwinder Kaur in the second place whereas Amanpreet Kaur and Harpreet Kaur won the third prize in Gurbani Shudhucharan Competition. Prabhneet Kaur stood first, followed by Harpreet Kaur at second place in Ardaas Competition . Kamalpreet Kaur and Jaspreet Kaur won third prize in the same competition. The students and the teachers of the college brought rasad and Guru ka Langar was prepared by NSS Unit, Youth club and NCC Wing of the College.

Students expressed their views on the topic of "Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on women empowerment".     Lecture on Guru Nanak Dev ji and his teachings organized at GNKCW

    Department of Social Sciences of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organized a Lecture cum discussion today on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji and its impact on the students.
    Apart from that, Power Point Presentations and Paper reading by the students on different topics like Administrative and Political Values, Social Change, Status of Women equality, Discipline, Corruption free society, Injustice and Women Empowerment, abolition of some social evils like sati pratha, pardah pratha and untouchability.
    The management and Principal of the college, Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman addressed the students by stressing upon the need of women equality.

GNKCW girls excel in BCA-5thSemester Results

Students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent result in BCA- 5th Semester Examination held in December, 2018.
Narinder Kaur stood first in college by securing 86.75% while Gursimran Kaur who scored an aggregate of 86.50% stood second in college. Tamanpreet Kaur stood third in the college by obtaining 85.50%.

PLACEMENT DRIVE AT GNKCW

The Training and Placement Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana organized a placement drive in collaboration with CONCENTRIX.
The resource person Ms. Ankita Sinha (Analyst) acquainted the students with the placement procedure which was divided in four rounds – Logical Reasoning, Personal Interview, Telephonic Interview and HR Round.
The Placement Drive was open to all the final year students of B.A, B.Com, BCA, BBA, M.A, M.Com and PGDCA. More than 150 students participated in the programme out of which 36 got selected.
The Principal of the college, Mrs Manjit Kaur Ghuman thanked the officials for their support to the college in Campus Placement. She wished the students good luck for their future endeavours.

7 - Days NSS Camp

26th December 2018 (Day 01)

The NSS Unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana has organized a 7-days Camp from 26th December, 2018 to 01st January, 2019.
The Day started with inaugural ceremony and registration of the volunteers. Madam Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman inaugurated the Camp and addressed 80 volunteers and appreciated for their zeal and enthusiasm for this camp. 80 students took pledge as NSS Volunteers. Programme Officers Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Bala discussed the aims and objectives of joining NSS Camp and Mrs. Punpreet Kaur gave a briefing of the activities to be carried out during the 7-Days Camp.
Evening session began with the lecture on Mind Management and Emotional Intelligence by Mr. Sanchit Jain from Art of Living, Ludhiana. He highlighted the importance of Soft Skills over domain Skills for success in life. Mr. Sanchit urged the students to have positive attitude and shed negative thoughts. Mindful Awareness and breathing techniques to conquer the anxiety were the highlights of the session.

27th December 2018 (Day 02)

The day started with an aerobics and dance class by Mr. Aman Maan from "The GYM- Health Planet". He taught various Stretching and aerobics exercises to NSS Volunteers which can help in preventing accumulation of fat, common health issues like anxiety, depression and stress and improving physical strength. Fitness Expert also gave students deep insight into the Bhangra Workout that helps in improving BMI level for all age groups. Morning Session was chaired by Ms. Amrinder Kaur (Home Science Department) in which volunteers learnt about miniature gardening.
In the evening session, a workshop was held by Mrs. Shikha Kalra (Deptt of Home Science) on "Salad Mania for a hale and sturdy wellbeing". Students have shown keen interest and participated whole heartedly in it.

28th December 2018 (Day 03)

The day started with the aerobics and dance class. In the morning session, Art and Craft workshop was held by Mrs. Balwinder Kaur ( Deptt of Fine Arts). Volunteers taught different techniques for making Paper Flowers, Paper Boxes. Best out of waste techniques were the highlight of the session.
In the Evening session, Dr. Balwinder Kaur (Dietician and Nutrition Expert) was the resource person. She highlighted the importance of balanced diet and RDA(Recommended Dietary allowances) for a healthy wellbeing.

29th December 2018 (Day 04)

The day started with Yoga Exercises by Mr. Ajay Giri from "The GYM- Health Planet". He taught various aasans and breathing techniques to improve body flexibility and build muscle strength. He also explained the relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga.
First session of the day started with an interactive talk with Dr. Vaani Sarda Thapar, infertility specialist and Gynecologist, Suman Hospital, Ludhiana. During her talk, she discussed the physical and mental aspects of women's health. She informed through demonstration the various techniques that the women can adopt to prevent themselves from Gynecological diseases. The volunteers conversed about their health issues and dietary intake in daily life.
In the Evening session NSS Volunteers visited Swami Vivekanand Old Age Home, Model Town Extn., to interact with old people and know various problems faced by them at later stage of their life. While interacting, the NSS Volunteers distributed the sweets and necessary items among them. The aim of this visit was to inculcate the value of respect towards old people and ignite the sense of responsibility towards senior citizens in the hearts of present generation.

30th December 2018 (Day 05)

The day started with the core exercises in which the Fitness Expert Mr. Shiva from "The GYM- Health Planet" demonstrate various exercises like crunches, sit ups, seated knee tuck, kick boxing etc. he urged volunteers to meet their daily proteins requirement as per their body weight.
Morning session commenced with taekwondo class in which Mr. Surjit Verma (Taekwondo Coach) gave tips on self-defence which can protect girls from eve teasing, molestation etc.
In the evening session, students indulge in poster making and slogan writing competition. Students delineated the theme of "Water Conservation" through their artistic skill. Mr. Jatinder Manchanda, Ms. Surinder Kaur and Ms. Jasmeet Kaur from Sambhav Foundation, City based NGO were the judges of the event. They appreciated the efforts of volunteers and urged them to be part of the efforts of cleaning Buddah Nallah, Ludhiana. In the end they gave away the prizes to the winners of the the competition.

31st December 2018 (Day 06)

The day started with an aerobics and dance class by Mr. Aman Maan from "The GYM- Health Planet". He taught various Stretching and aerobics exercises to NSS Volunteers. The cleanliness drive was conducted by the volunteers in the college campus. They actively participated in drive. This initiative propagated and instilled the value of dignity of labour in all the volunteers.
In the morning session, the volunteers visited National Child Labour Project School, Ambedkar Nagar, Ludhiana where volunteers had interactive session with students on cleanliness, health and hygiene and asked them to pass new year resolutions to stay healthy and keep their surroundings clean. Volunteers also distributed eatables to them.
In the Evening Session, “Share and Care” donation drive was organized to donate various items like clothes, sweaters, shoes, bags, etc, to Neki ki Dukaan, an initiative of EK NOOR SEWA KENDRA.
Core members of this NGO, highlighted the various initiatives taken for poor people who cannot afford minimum living standard. Principal of the college, Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman appealed to the students to donate for this noble cause and also appreciated the work done by the NGO for the under privileged section of the society.

01st January 2019 (Day 07)

The valedictory function was held on the last day of 7 day NSS Camp by the NSS volunteers of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town Ludhiana. The volunteers performed number of cultural items including folk song, dance with great enthusiasm. An exhibition was also held by the Volunteers in which they prepared various items like paper bags, boxes, decorated file covers, tie and dye material, envelopes, Photo Frames, Miniature Garden, Beautiful Pots etc. Madam Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur appreciated the students for the exposure of talent in all the items they performed and also awarded prizes to the best NSS volunteers. Programme Officers Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Bala and Mrs. Punpreet Kaur congratulated the students on the successful completion of 7-day NSS camp.
