Seminars

To enlighten and update the knowledge of the students, many eminent speakers/scholars are invited for seminars, workshops and extension lectures.

2019-20

  • Workshop on Healthy Shakes was organized by Department of Home Science on August 02, 2019. Mr. Amit Porwal, Pastry Chef, Radisson Blu, Ludhiana was the Resource Person.
  • Department of Business Management and Commerce organized an Ad-Mad Show on August 29, 2019. On this occasion, students presented various Ads related to different products, services and current social issues such as Health issues, Unemployment, and Drugs.
  • English Literary Society organized a Literary Week from September 03 – 06, 2019:
    • On Day 1, a Creative Writing Competition was organized on the topic "Letter it out." The participants had to address a letter to the social evil which they want to be removed from the society. Taranpreet Kaur of M.A. II and Simranpreet Kaur of B.A. II were the winners of the competition.
    • Day 2 began with the enactment of the play The School for Scandal written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. It was followed by a stimulating theatre workshop conducted by the renowned theatre personality Dr. Ankur Sharma, Asstt. Professor, Doaba College, Jalandhar.
    • Day 3 saw the continuation of the theme of creative art and artistry. Dr. Navjot Deol, Apeejay College, Jalandhar conducted a workshop on short story writing in which fun activities resulted in brilliant story weaving and storytelling.
    • Day 4 witnessed the portrayal of prominent women characters from literature by the students. Afterwards, the students were face-to-face with the eminent author Dr. Manju Jaidka, who apprised them about the art of creative writing.
  • Hindi Sahitya Sabha of our college organized Calligraphy Competition based on extracts from Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Baani on September 14, 2019. It was followed by Poetical Recitation and enactment of Sarveshwar Dyal Saxena's Poem "Desh Kagaz Par Bana Naksha Nhi Hota".
  • Department of Fine Arts organized an event titled "Rasa in Art-Slide Show" on September 17, 2019 as a part of which the students gave Power Point Presentations.
  • Seminar cum Art Workshop, "Vismaad" on the theme "Jahar Peer Jagat Guru Baba" was organized by IQAC of the college to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji as well as the Golden Jubilee of the college on November 11, 2019. Padma Bhushan Dr. S.S. Johl (Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Artist Sidharth of international acclaim was the Resource Person.


2018-19

  • English Literary Society organized a Literary Show on August 31, 2018 comprising a theatrical presentation of William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, Poem Recitations, Songs as well as a literary Quiz, "Who Am I?"

  • Department of Psychology organized a Psychological Testing Activity “Psyche-Logos Testing Fair” on September 14, 2018.

  • Department of Psychology organized an Extension Lecture on "Stress Management through Emotional Regulation" on September 17, 2018. Dr. Nayanika Singh from PGGCG was the Resource Person.

  • House of Readers organized a face-to-face interaction with Dr. Harpal Singh Pannu, Chair Professor, Guru Gobind Singh Chair, Central University, Bathinda on November 16, 2018.

  • Department of Social Sciences organized a Lecture cum discussion on "Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and its impact on the students" on January 28, 2019

  • Department of Psychology organized an event showcasing Psychological Disorders and Concepts "Psyche-Tation" on February 04, 2019. On this occasion students made models on various psychological concepts and a skit named "Jeene Bhi De" was also presented.

  • Department of Punjabi in collaboration with Punjabi Sath, Ludhiana and Punjabi Bhasha Pasar Bhaichara on the occasion of 550th Birthday celebration of Guru Nanak Dev ji, organized a Lecture on “Punjabi Maa Boli Pandarwara” on February 18, 2019. Mitar Senmeet, a novelist, was the Resource Person.

  • House of Readers (Book Club) organized Book Reviews in the college. Almost 25 students from various classes presented their views on different books on February 21, 2018.

  • A National Seminar was organized by the Department of Punjabi on the topic “Guru Nanak Dev Ji di Vichardhara te Chintan” on March 02, 2019. Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh Ji (Karajkari Jathedar, Shri Akal Takht Sahib, Shri Amritsar Sahib) was the Chief Guest and Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi (Former Professor and Head, Department of Punjabi, Literary Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala) was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Dr. Jagbir Singh (Former Professor and Head, Punjabi Department, Delhi University, Delhi) delivered the key-note address.
